It's been a couple of years since a really layed down the hammer and ran a full pot of pistol bullets in gang moulds .
I've been pouring 22,25,27,28,30 and 35 cal rifle bullets almost exclusively for the last 3 yr except for a few special singles and some RB . I loaded up the pot with 50/50 WW-1 20 and got the brand new NOE 454-250 (454424) warmed up. I have a flow down and a great rhythm down . I can pour a 5C 225-55 , 4C 279-129 and 260-120 with almost no wrinkle rejects and shiny to almost shiny bullets . So I grab the 45-200 2C and pour 250 or so and add a little more alloy to the pot . I grab the warmed NOE 5C , pour the first set and wait .......And wait .......And wait , eventually the sprue turns . Sprue , open , wiggle, dump , close , sprue plate , pour and wait .........waiting........Waiting.... Frost from doom ..........What the ???????? .

It took me about 6 pours before it clicked ..............You just can't run a big bullet AL mould that fast or that hot . How quickly we fall into a habit when casting .......

If my bullets aren't frosty I dump them back in the pot. The mold isn't hot enough. Frosty bullets are good bullets.

I find its better to use two or three molds when casting so I can go as fast as I like by using them alternatively.saves all that waiting for the mold to cool.
