Hey Gang,

I did a quick search and I found plenty of lead to tin ratios. However, I have loads of pure/soft lead and quite a bit of Linotype. Can anyone point me to a simple calculator where I can punch in different weights of both lead and Linotype and calculate the approximate BHN hardness and see what affect more/less linotype has on the BHN harness?

I don't have enough wheel weights to mix with my pure lead, nor do I have vast quantities of tin or pewter. What I have is Linotype.

Thanks for any help.

3-1 pure to lino is 1/3/96 alloy or basically the same as ww's and some tin. [12bhn]

just use the lead as 0 and the lino as 12 to figure your ratios.
so you have 0+0+0+12 = 12 divide that by 4 to get 3%.
and the tin is 0+0+0+4= 4 divide by 4 to get 1%.

1 part lead and 1 part lino is 2/6/92 alloy the same as terracorp magnum alloy.
it's 15 bhn.
