What are your favorite loads with a 200 gr boolit. My friend asked but I have no info.

I have a couple, 15.3gr H110/W296 with the Lee 155gr 312 and a 230-245gr cast boolit with enough RL-7 to give a tad over 1,000fps, about 10.5gr or so. I've also shot 245gr at supersonic speeds that would work well for hunting, just more RL-7.

4227 is a safe bet in the 300.
I have bolt guns so I can get away with just about any powder from bulls-eye up through AA-1680.

but if I had a flinger rifle in this caliber I would work with the 4227 powder for sub sonic up into the sonic region.
and stay with 180-200gr boolit/bullet weights.

Heaviest I've gone so far is 170PB, base at the bottom of the neck, with 1680 - ~1600 fps. 4227 or Rx7 should work well also - take up more case volume - good for lighter loads. 300blktalk has lots of heavy sub loads in the forum.

Hodgdon's website has some data listed for subsonic loads. Interesting that you start high and try to get them to just under the speed of sound while still operating the rifle. Kinda upside down load development. I've got some old Sierra data somewhere, probably near where I left my mind...

It is a fun little cartridge, I'm mainly shooting supersonic loads until I get the nerve to order a suppressor. And I'm probably going to have to add a bolt gun in that caliber just because. I found that 125gr SST's will flat slay a whitetail deer this fall.

Fun is a 7.5" threaded Encore pistol barrel with suppressor, thing is a blast to shoot subs in and I don't have to worry about cycling an action.

Every gun is different, I had to work with 3 different powders to finally get one to cycle and stay locked on the last shot. But that is part of the fun of reloading, finding that load that works for your gun..... H110, IMR4227 and RL7

I use 12.5 grains RL 7 over the Lee 309-230, so it will be safe with a 200 (assuming it's not seated too deep). Cycles the action, barely–I believe it locks it back too.

Sounds good, I do forget the boolit mold he is looking at.

Been using Lil-Gun on some 170's with good success. was working with 230's but couldn't get them seated deep enough to chamber. My Ar has a short throat that is getting ready to be taken care of.
