I decided not to update after hearing the horror stories. Everyone said the older version wouldn't be updated, but I keep getting downloads. Good enough for me.

Figures they'd screw up a good system!

+1 on this issue. AVG 8.0 Sucks! Computer ran slow, internet ran slow. I pretty much have to disable it every time I restart my computer just so I can work on it.. Stay away!!

Give Avast a try, they have a freebie, daily updates, and it seems to work darn good, been using it for about 1 year now.

I've been using a free program that seems to work very well. It has daily virus updates. It's available at

http://www.free-av.com

I'm not reaaly happy with AVG. Every so often it wipes out the printer driver. I have to reload the drivers. I have stopped all up dates and set them up one at a time. AVG is the culpert. The update is now locked out on it.

I'm looking for an alternative.

Don't know about you guys, but I am still obtaining updates as of 06/30/08.
It was "supposed" to be unsupported as of the 25th, IIRC.
I wonder if they realize they dropped a stinker, back to the drawing board and damage control??....................
