My daughter got her first buck this year. She drew out on a special youth hunt through the wildlife department. First afternoon we sat up on a pond and this small 7 pt came down for a drink.

Earlier that morning she took a pig, her first one of those as well. We were still hunting up a hill in the woods and a group of pigs came by at about 20 yards.

On Thanksgiving morning, we went hunting and she got a doe. Broadside shot right behind the shoulder.

Then 8 days later, she got her second buck. Same stand as the doe, again a broadside shot right behind the shoulder.

She spent a lot of mornings and evenings in the woods. We hunted for 30 minutes to an hour and a half at a time. I was very proud of her for sticking it out. We saw deer most hunts, but bucks were nonexistent for a while and does can only be harvested on certain days.

She was pretty excited and had a great year. I am having a European mount of the first buck and we will do something with the second also. Just thought I'd post up some of her pics.

That is what a father wants to see! She is no longer just a spectator, she is now an active participant in the wonderful wild world. Good job Dad!

That's great! I didn't have daughters, I had sons, but good on you guys with girls for not bringing them up to just be Barbie Dolls. That little girl will grow up more self reliant and able to step up to challenges than most of her peers.

SSGOldfart, Thank you. She shot the pig with a remington 700 300 whisper (blackout). On the deer she used my 6x47 lapua (basically a 243) with 105 Hornady AMAXs. I think I lost my 6x47 lapua.

Well at this rate it will be bear and elk by the end of next week. Your taxidermy bill looks to get rather robust.
