I want to fire form some 30 cal. military brass for my Winchester Model 54 30-06. Would 30gr. of IMR 4895 work? I don't want to get too high velocity or pressure, but enough to form the brass.

Will work okay for fireform but don't expect any accuracy. The 311413 is, essentially, a 'gallery' boolit that doesn't perform well over at velocities over 1500-1600 fps. Using that boolit, you can fireform with just about anything that will push it over 1200 fps...Unique, 2400, Red Dot, 700X etc. I've fireformed hundreds of .30 & .31 cal. cases using 700X and round ball fired into my indoor boolit trap.

I've had pretty good luck with the 311413 at .310, over 25 gr Reloder 7 I can get about 3" 10 shot groups at 200 yards from a Savage 99 .308. I like the bullet as it is less wind sensitive than the flat nose bullets in that weight range. When fireforming with moderate or light loads I lubricate cases to insure the case conforms to the chamber more smoothly.
