Interesting that the rifle remains are those of a SMLE. About the only folks carrying SMLE's at that time were Kiwi's and Aussies.
Actually closer look it has a magazine cut off so is a No3 MkIII at the latest.

Pretty amazing story. I spent time in Germany and traveled around; it is amazing what people have found buried in the ground there. Lots of relics. many underground facilities where sealed permenantly.
