Anyone cast for 357 SIG?

I am being challenged by the short neck on this cartridge and I am having trouble finding a boolit to fit the bill.

Any suggestions? (other than switching barrels to .40 S&W)

Switch bbls to the 40 Smith /Wesson...

I have looked the 357 Sig over long, and hard, and it simply is not a cast boolet ctg.

Ya, I know, you can do anything if yu put yur mind to it, so ooooo.....

Fill an empty ctg with lead.
Put said ctg in the chamber of yur bbl, and drop a slug of soft lead down the bbl.
Use a rod to smash the two together, then knock them out.

What you have is a perfect impression of your chamber throat.

Next measure the length from case neck base to end of the throat. That will be the bearing length of your new cast bullet.

The nose will be added , and limited by the length of the magazine.

Next, add a gas check shank, which will extend down into the powder charge,,, but not allow any exposed lead to the powder.

What you now have is the totas lenght of a cast bullet which will fit the 357 Sig ctg.... Base to nose.

Now, go to mountain moulds, and have them make for you a mould, or better get a group buy going.

I use this one. It will work well if made hard enough, the 357 sig is a high pressure round, 1350 is normal speed. The Truncated Cone shape is what you need to get that short neck to line up in front of the tumble lube grooves, right on the front driving band.
