for folks who might be interested in a 30-223Rem Wildcat known as the 30 Apache, there is a set of CH dies up for auction on Ebay. Not my auction or my dies but a chance for someone to potentially get a set of custom dies at a fraction of new.

I had a Rem XP100 rebarrelled to 30-223 by Ron DeWarf here. I put a Redfield Olympic sight on it, with modified rear blade. It was my silhouette gun, and did a good job of knocking down rams @ 500 meters. Sadly - disappeared from my house. Can't find it anywhere. Still have the custom dies.

So what is the difference from a 300 whisper AKA 300BLK?

blackout is a 223 cut off at the start of the shoulder and necked down to 30 cal , 30-223 is the 223 full length necked up to 30 cal

The blackout and whisper are based on the 221 fireball necked up, aka a 1.40" long case vs. the 1.76" long 223.

Was there an AR-15 platform chambered in this caliber by Remington? Or was that a different chambering? Was anyone here bidding on these dies?

I think you are thinking of the 30AR -- short fat cartridge slightly larger in dia than a 30 BR.

Right you are! Thanks for the reminder! I bought the die set referenced above, now looking for a use! :)
