Ohio Deer gun season opened this morning
I had my BFR in 45/70 with me , as it is new and I had worked up some good loads for it

No long drawn out hunt
As I had trail camera pictures of a number of doe's , yearlings and bucks moving down the creek bottom from dads corn field to a BIG patch of overgrown CPR ground

So I got to the ground blind a good hour before I could hope to be able to see
And I am 99.99% sure I slept for the next hour or so

I errr woke up just as it was getting light enough to shoot and had several does and yearlings feeding and walking down the lane 50 yards away

I wanted a large 10 point that I had not been able to get close to during the bow season before gun season
But it was starting to rain and I figured the first nice buck was good enough

20 or so min later a nice basket 8 point came around some trees and headed my way
It was on one of the side trails , but at about 50 yards it had 2 bushes to go around

It picked my side of the bushes and the BFR and I both did the job
The powder coated bullet exited after doing it's job , I would have liked to see how the 30/1 bullet expanded

I hit the buck mid lung height and angled to the off shoulder
No tracking needed , it went 10'

Nice part about hunting there
I called my dad and he drove the truck down to pick me and the buck up after a 20 feet drag to the lane

I have the buck skinned and after dinner I will cut it up and grind burger

Might have more deer to do
As my brother has my H&R 45/70 and my sister in law has my Marlin 45/70
As they want to also use a couple of land owners tags ( Free ) on his farm

Hope everyone the best hunting
