Got a 125 grain mold for .358 was hoping I could load them in my 9mm Zastava but it slugged at .354, would this be too dangerous to fire?

Are you sizing them, or just planning on powder coating and shooting as cast?

Need more info.

Sized to .358 and powder coated. Cast from water dropped clip ons.

Lee 358-125 RF mold.

No big deal. Got lots of 38 special brass and a Colt King Cobra that would like them.

I would size them try 356.

that mold needs to be seated pretty deeply without the powder coating adding more diameter to the nose.
I'd try some at 358 and see what happens.
be very careful with your start loads.
the 9mm is not going to like not having any room in the case.
and I definitely would not work with titegroup in this situation.

In addition to what run five said, you would likely want the 9mm barrel throated to use a .358" as it likely will not plunk this boolit unless it was seated dangerously low in the case.

Why in the first place would you want to shoot a powder coated round so grossly oversized?

On top of that, then run the chance of having an unevenly powder coated ogive get pushed even further back into the case as it goes into battery? You aren't going to flip that coin too many times before it comes up...BOOM!

We need to stop, take a breath and review what is involved in making accurate, reliable and quality handloaded rounds.

'Close enough' is a rule of thumb for 'horse shoes and hand grenades'...

Not sure what my Zastava slugs at, but .358" plunks in and shoots under 1.5" at 20 yards. No leading, and while not exceptional accuracy, it's WAY better than most cast 9mm shooters report. Make sure they plunk, which means there is room for boolit release and start low on the powder charge. Nothing at all wrong with shooting that large in most 9mms.

OS OK, Because I was hoping I could use my 38 special mold in 9mm.

It failed. It will not chamber. No big deal.

I've done quite well with that load in an HK P-30. Both PC and traditional lube. Sized to .357 and seated to 1.055.

Okay, you sized it down to .355 or so and it didn't fit?

No. I had it at roughly.3575. I will just get a .356 mold. I didnt care for the looks of the lube groove sticking out a little anyway.
