Pictures are very blurry at my end. From the description I would guess 44 Auto Mag. I would imagine that brass was made from a cut down 308 or 30-06.

Remington Ultimate Muzzleloader cases

Bingo. The Remington Ultimate Muzzleloader uses a prime case as the ignition and a 700 short action with a muzzleloader barrel.

A friend had one custom built (copy-ish) and uses cut off 308 cases. On his, the internal web seats solidly against a hollow tube that leads to the combustion chamber. The ejector on his bolt face was removed so that the case can be removed by plucking it from the bolt face and not ejecting. I cut off several cases and reprimed the ones he already had.

THANK YOU, Sirs! UML............duh! 'Muzzleloader'. Never ever would have occurred to us. Checked all over and in 'Cartridges of the World' and NOTHING matched the dimensions, LOL! I had thought maybe it was a Wildey wildcat .40......or sumpin'. Well, now my buddy and I each have one in our collections, and know what it is. That seating detail you mention explains the strange looking internals of the webs of these cases. A hollow tube would fit in nicely, now that you pointed it out. Thanks again.
