Custom-Made 30-40 Krag Barrel...

O.K. Some have followed my “saga” with the Encore and the 308 Winchester caliber…

It simply will not shoot cast and it will shoot jacketed to a fair degree…

That’s all that really needs said…

I have decided to get a 30-40 Krag barrel made of it as I found brass and I have the other components…

I would like to shoot boolits ranging from 170-200 grains, in that ballpark…

My question: What company would you use to get the custom Encore barrel made? I am looking for a barrel length for rifle and not for handgun…

Well, I checked out the MGM and made a custom barrel...

1:10 handles 175-210 grain boolits. I don't want to get the 1:12, but I might like to shoot 150's or thereabout. I wonder if the 1:10 will handle the boolits a bit lighter than 175 grains?...

Any other suggestions?...

The 10 twist is pretty standard for the 30-06 and most I have will shoot 125gr to 200gr very well, even with boolits. The 308 is commonly a 12 twist.
