I posted this in the reloaders guide forum, but wanted to get as many opinions as I can. Does anyone have any info on what benefits ther are in taking this course. It is offered by Phoenix State University. They seem to really tout it as the best thing since sliced bread. Here's the link. http://www.certifiedreloader.com/frequentquestions.html

Yes. It will help their stockholders. With that certificate you can get an FFL for gun smithing, I forget what number it is. You can also get that license without their certificate. You do the math...

If all you want to do is take a reloading course, the one I recommend (since I am/was a NRA certified instructor) is the NRA Certified Reloading Course. It's hands on with a certified NRA instructor. All you need to do is find an instructor.

If you are planning on loading commercially and starting from scratch, good luck.

I think this says it all: "This allows many of our reloaders and gunsmiths to make $200,000 plus the first year with only a spare bedroom or garage shop. " I wonder if Phoenix State is located on some of that prime ocean-front property?

I just had a revelation on this subject. How much longer is our government going to pass up the opportunity to make us take a course like this and get a license before we're allowed to reload? It's brilliant! If I owned that company I'd be bribing, err..ahh... asking my congressman to introduce legislation for that very thing right away. Boy, somebody is sure asleep at the switch!

OK, guys. I get the point. I was just concerned that maybe in the near future our all knowing, all powerful government would pass laws requiring some sort of certification/licensing to purchase reloading materials.

My wife's Aunt lives in NSW somewhere, don't remember where. How badly do you need gunsmiths, and how hard is it to get a license and go through all the other BS?
I put my self through college by doing gunsmithing, and building custom rifles for people.

If something does not change in this country, and things get better soon, I would consider selling off everything and heading to Australia or New Zealand. Which ever country I thought I could make a go of it in.

Best Wishes from the Boer Ranch,

Joe

I don't know, Joe. I'd check back down under, before making any moves. A few years ago, when I was still shooting International Pistol, I used to compete with, and talk to, Warren Potter, a world class pistol shot, who emmigrated to the States(Tenn), because of the firearms laws being passed in OZ. His family still has a gun shop there (Potter Firearms).
