40 sw what do you think of 401-175-TC 40

Wife just gave me a PT740 I had been looking at for a while. Wondering if anyone has had success with the lee 401-175-TC 40 in this gun? I just did my first casting run for my 9mm and 380, that went well. Wasn't planning on looking at another mold for a while. Open to alternatives but trying to stick with the cheap molds untill I have a better feel for what I like/want and have recovered the finances a bit from the current supplies purchases. I plan on powder coating once I can get that setup as well.

I can't vouch for that 1 although there were no complaints that I recall for the bullet when I had the mould . I have the SWC sister mould that I misordered for an XD 40 . It shoots well but I had to cast of straight WW and HT or they tumbled . By that I mean full profile on 25 yd backers . Groups closed as maximum loads were reached .

I have that one in 6 cavity, I like it, in fact I have the same boolit in 45 and 9mm, they all feed very well in everything I've used them in.

I wore mine out - old design - regular L.G. Personally, I'd save for a NOE or Accurate mould - bevel base - maybe even grooveless. I prefer HiTek for pistol or you can TL - works OK just smoky.
edit: 50/50 Pb/roto high Sb worked fine for 4.5gr 231. Now I use isocore AC. You may have to WD the range scrap you use. I got a bar of superhard (12% Sb), cast it in the worn out 40 mould and use it for sweetener. I use a 165gr TC now, same load and it went through a 150# pig, end to end (25 yds) so I assume leather jacket and clothing won't stop it. Buddy and his wife usually empty a mag each of 9mm before knocking down the pigs.

For you guys that had good success did you also find you needed ww I was hoping to get by with some range scrap that I have just started collecting and smelting. Dont want to save to long as I only got 50 rounds with it and how long can you look at your new gun without taking it out some:)

I have the 6 cav 175TC, wish the bullets were slightly bigger(like .402). No major leading with light loads in my norinco NP40(cz85 copy).

I have that mold in a 2 cavity. Cast from range scrap we've ran several thru my sons Glock 22. Moderate loads with no issues.

I have used this lee mold and find that this boolet shoots quiet well out of my high point carbine. I tried it out of my high point pistole and a friends pistole and they both shot good no leading. I have tried softer lead bhn around 8 or 9 to ww and Lyman #2. I like hs6 around 6.8 grains if I remember correctly to 7.0 was my load.

I have one in a 2 cavity, my Hipoint .40sw seems to like them over 5 gr of Red Dot.

I have the Lee 175TL in both 2 cavity and 6 cavity. It has served me well and I also have the 145 standard groove mold that I really like. When the time comes and you can afford a better mold you won't be disappointed.

I have both the 2 and 6 cavity and use ww 50/50 mixed with pure lead. I use them successfully in several Glocks with factory barrels with 231 powder.

My Hi-point likes them over 8gr Blue Dot

I too have a 6 cavity and like it. I cast 50-50 WW and Pb. Used Tac-1 lube from randyrat or BLL. No leading and quite accurate.

I have a standard lube 175 and it shoots well in the Smith @ .402, the Kahr needs .401 to chamber.

sounds like the molds a good bet just have to get it ordered and on the way. Thanks for the feedback hopefully ill be able to get it in next week and get going casting next weekend.

I use a 6-holer, and couldn't be happier.
I run bunches through my Tanfoglio Limited with the usual alloy being LYMAN #2, with BAC for lube.
My competition load is Green Dot, but I am trying everything I can get my hands on to find the most accurate and most efficient load I can.
I spend a lot of time slaving over a hot chronograph, to that end.
I change primers, OALs, amounts of powder, but this bullet is my choice.
