I have a Lyman a 380681 250 gr. and a Saeco SAE61571 300 gr. mold for my 38-55 Uberti. Am curious about a ~275 gr. 'RN' (Money, Postal,....?) ~1.200" (calculated Greenhill length) configuration.
A shootin' buddy here suggested cutting back a Lyman 378674. Sounds better than my idea of taking my double cavity 250 gr. and plunge cutting one cavity to a round nose.
Before I go shopping, am open to ideas.
Cheers,
R

Accurate molds, if he don't have it in catalogue he can make it but he only does flat points of a minimum size.
NOE might have something in hand.
Mountain molds will let you design what you want.
and OWBM [old west bullet molds] might have something in hand too.

I have a 2 cavity 375248 I do not use. Is this what you are thinking of modifying?

Mountain Molds cuts molds on a CNC lathe and will also only make flat points. (may have changed?)

Thanks for the replys. Was fishing for any 'been there done that's' and opinions on how it went. Am hitting fairly well at the 500 yd. line with the flat points, but just want to tinker.
Since I already have the 2 cavity Lyman, may just go that route vs. a new mold. If the idea fails, I only lose one side.

FWIW: Best long-range boolit I've found for my Uberti Highwall in .38-55 is a 305 gr RNFP (very small metplat). Unfortunately, the mold is an old NEI (one of Walt's, I believe) and not in their current repertoire. (My mold is an SC and when I called about getting them to make up a 2 or 3 cavity for me, they tried to tell me that what I have is not an NEI mold because it isn't in their catalogue...even though my mold is engraved with the NEI logo and a typical NEI numerical designation.) You might consider getting in touch with 'Buckshot' on this forum about reconfiguring your Lyman mold. I've been quite satisfied with the couple of mold mods he's done for me.

Thanks for the referral. Will most likely stay local with face to face discussion. Would like to stay in the vicinity of ~275 gr./1.200".

Accurate clone of the Ideal 375166 ... http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=38-320E-D.png
It's my out to 500m silhouette for BPCR. To 300yds, less than MOA
In a 1:18 bore, calculates at 17.65

I worked with Tom on this design.
Multi-crimp for 38-55 or 375 Win.

RN. No Metplat, as I have that in both the molds that I'm using now. Thanks for the suggestions.
