Have any of you used 375 Winchester dies to reload 38-55 shells? The reloads will be shot in a Marlin CB 38-55. The shells will be loaded with a 250 gr. Lee boolit.
Thanks for any info.

The 375 is slightly shorter than the 38/55, but other than that you should be just fine. Just be careful when setting your crimp as the longer 38/55 will buckle from too much crimp if you screw down the 375 seating/crimp die too far. Just screw it down until you meet resistance and then adjust in increments until you get the crimp you want.

Depending on your bullet diameter, .375, .377 ... you may need to change your neck expander. I believe most .375 Win dies are ' 3 piece' with a separate neck expander. The appropriate neck expander - NOE or Lyman 'M' might be needed.

I do the opposite and use 38-55 type dies fro my 375.
I do use a 379 boolit diameter so that might be why it works for me.

Works just fine. I've used Hornady .375 dies to load lots of .38-55s. The .375s just a tad shorter is all....a simple die adjustment.

I shoot .375s in my Ruger Number 1 .38-55 all the time.

This practice is not recommended in the Marlins but the Number 1 and its bank vault strong action will take anything. Went that way in case I want to take an elk here in KY one day./beagle

Is Winchester ever going to make more brass?

Don't hold your breath waiting on Winchester for brass. Get Starline 38-55.

My guess is no. One of the newer brass manufacturers will be the one to do it. My money is on Starline or Jamison.

Jamison has them but pricey. I have a hundred coming to be the back up to the back up.

Wow! I did not know they were making them. This is great news and it looks like I was right about who would end up making it.[emoji41] I have some of their 300 Savage brass and have been very pleased.

Yes same as loading .357 mag's with a 38 special dies or 44 mag's using 44 special dies.

I got my 100 cases of 375 Winchester from Jamison today. The few cases I looked at were well trimmed.

Sort of off topic, but a few years ago I was perusing a Midway ad and ran across a smoking deal on .375 Win brass. I forget the details but it was almost a giveaway. I don't remember if it was 500 or 1000 but way more than I needed. I posted somewhere that I would sell the excess for what I had in it plus shipping. Didn't take long. I have 300 left and that should last me the rest of my shooting life.

BTW, right after I placed my order, the deal disappeared. Apparently, a typo.

Yes I have done that. Before I got 38/55 dies I used my 375 Win. dies.I have a Lyman "M" die and a Lee factory crimp die also.Using Starline brass trimmed to 2.082" you see just a little bit near the head of the case doesn't sized.that doesn't seem to cause any problems. In a low pressure cartridge like the 38/55 even after being fired many times I don't think you would get enough case expansion to cause a problem with chambering.
