Rcbs 28-168fn

I just purchased this mold(RCBS 28-168FN) and I tried it out yesterday with some COWW, I am happy with the results but the weight is heavier then I thought I would get.

And here are the measurements, I am happy with the diameter but the weight has be a little confused.
I am going to use these in my Ruger #1 RSI 7x57 but I am having trouble finding load data for a 180 gr 7x57 cast.

I have Unique, Red Dot, Trail Boss, H4895, IMR4198, 3130 and some others I can't think of without going down to the reloading room.
What are your suggestions?

H4895 and the Hodgdon reduced loads page will almost always give good results.

You didn't say what your end use would be so here is a shot in the dark. For target work in full size military cartridges, I almost always start with 10 grains of Unique then adjust up or down for best accuracy. 16 grains of 2400 would be my next choice or the same weight of IMR-4227 following the same procedure. Don't overlook 22 grains of IMR-4198 or Alliant Rx7, which may fulfill the requirements of both target and hunting use.
For hunting deer or similar game, if the target loads didn't meet the velocity requirements, I'd start with 25 grains of 4895 and work upward for accuracy and velocity. I like my hunting loads to produce 1700 fps as a minimum. HTH

I have looked at the H4895 reduced data specs but I can't find any info for 7x57 180gr using H4895

My end goal will be an accurate hunting load but I am more inclined to grab a stainless synthetic rifle for beating around the bush, the #1 is just too pretty.
I will load up a few with some H4895 and see how they work.

The weight is not really the issue, it's the lack of load info

Using about 60% ish of the load data for 175gr should be fine. Pressure would certainly be lower than you would need to worry about.

To my surprise, there are no data for H4895 and 175 grain bullets. However, there are data for H4895 and 168 grain bullets. Once you reduce the charge to 60% you will be in high cotton. Work up from there.

I wouldn't even worry about 10 more grains with a cast boolit, just use the 168's data and work up.
