I picked up my Kimber ProCarry II HD 45 ACP Monday and finally got to the range with it. Its been a long time since I have owned a 1911 and I got a real good price on this one.

After reading all the threads about shooting the Lee 200 gr Semi Wadcutters in 1911's I was a little apprehensive. I shouldnt have been, I ran over 200 rounds through it without so much as a hiccup, and they shot a lot better than the factory loads I used in it. I loaded them with 5.4 grains of Titegroup and left about 30 -40 thousandths of the shoulder exposed as was suggested here by several folks. I was using Speed Green Lube (thanks Bullshop] I had loaded some 230 gr. hardball just in case, I used Bullseye for that. I think the Bullseye shot a little cleaner but thats probably because there was no lube there, I am gonna try some but really like the Titegroup. I use Titegroup in my 45 LC and am trying to consolidate powders where I can (I have way too much powder, lol).

Thanks to everyone on this site for all your help and advice. I started casting a year or so ago with the help from you guys and am hooked. Hope I can keep finding lead.

The title should be 200 gr. My fingers stutter sometimes.

Swamprat, now that the whole world knows, the onliest problem you will have is some idiot what kain't read..., or don't know better. In case anyone missed it, "don't mess with swamprat!"

Nice choice. Cast boolits work just fine for carry as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks 45Nut . I sure couldnt fix it.

Sundog, I'll probably use something else for carry but I mainly bought it to shoot
and the cast are sure cheaper for that.

I have been using the same 200 gr lee sw in my kimber gold match. I am very happy with it.
I use 4.7 g of red dot, and have gone up to 5.0 g red dot, but that is pretty hard to keep on target. Most of the guys I shoot PPC with change the main spring, and cut back to a lighter load, but I haven't had time for that yet. It is on the list, but that is winter fun, and now I am fishing. But 4.7 red dot gets me a pretty accurate load.

Thanks for the feedback on my loads. A friend that builds a lot of 1911's recommended that load. Said I should use heavy loads for the first 500 rds. to break in the pistol. We have shot that load in his 1911's with no signs of pressure and I had none in mine. I plan on scaling back now. I had no problem keeping this load on target though, I didnt think it seemed all that hot.

I shoot that bullet in a Para P-12, an AMT 1911 and S/W DK 1911 and have never had any feed issues. I size them to .04515-0.452. It is a very solid performer. I get very good accuracy with it - sub minute of steel plate.

5.4 is the listed max on the Hodgdon website so it is within the norms, just on the upper end.

I shoot thousands of the lee 200 in my 45s. I now load with 4.3 of bullseye and have never had any problems.
I was at 3.9 but my new Nighthawk Predator with lightrails was needing a little more powder to cycle...

The bullets are great, enjoy your Kimber.
