Police, Chuck E. Cheese officials to meet

The Chuck E. Cheese restaurant in the Town of Brookfield is being asked to reign in unruly parents or town officials will revoke the liquor license held by the children's party palace, town officials said.

Chuck E. Cheese corporate officials are flying in from Texas to meet with town officials next Tuesday about the frequent police calls to the restaurant for fights and other disturbances. The publicly traded chain is owned by CEC Entertainment Inc., based in Irving, Texas. Town Administrator Richard Czopp, Police Capt. Tim Imler and Town Supervisor Dan Shea will represent the town in the meeting.

"We're going discuss the problems and encourage them to give up their license," Czopp said.

The Town Board is not going to make any decisions until after the meeting with corporate officials because if the company gives up the liquor license voluntarily, the problems may be solved, Czopp said.

Town officials are taking the incidents very seriously, he said. Recently, evidence of drug use was discovered at the restaurant, according to police reports. Crack cocaine and syringes used to inject heroin were found in the restrooms.

"We're going to do something there," Czopp said.

You would understand and appreciate Mr. Wilson's song if you've ever been to one of those kid's birthday parties at Mr. Cheese's. They tend to be rather nightmarish. Not the fault of Chuck; it's the kids' parents.
