I shoot two different bolt action 257 Roberts. I'm looking for a bullet that will chamber smoothly and also have a flat nose. My main goal is light target rounds, secondary, a bullet that will smash yard critters. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Shuz,
What kind of speed are you running that bullet? Are you shooting it in a bolt gun?

I shoot that boolit and a Saeco 100g at about 1700 fps in a bolt gun, but it is a Savage Mdl 16 chambered for .250 Sav NOT the 257 Bob! Either of those boolits will work fine if you size them right and heat treat them if you go past 1700 fps. Powder of choice in the .250 Sav is Reloder 7.

I'm using the NOE 89gr FNGC in a Marlin .23-36. Ditto the RL7.
I liked 5744, but it's EXPENSIVE.

I havent tried cast in my Roberts. Not likely to as it will likely foul badly due to pitted bore.
