I am trying to evaluate a beat up old BAR .270 for my brother. Does not like any load I have tried. Anybody got a load for 103gr Sierra's, which cost me $30 at a local shyster shop. Best Roger

what are you tring to get if its 1in groups forget it have an 06 and buddy has 300win both will only do 2 to 2 1/2 groups would go up in weight to the 130 the BARs tend to do better with a heavy boolet rick

nephews bar 270 does its best with 130 sierras and shoots them into a little less then 1.5 inch at a 100 yards.

My 270 BAR liked 100 gr Speer bullets and H4831 powder. It'd put 3 in 3/4" all day long.

PS: check the rifling just below the crown. If someone cleaned it frequently from the muzzle, the rifling there will be weak or nonexistent.

have had a bar for 30+ years, have always shot remington 150 grain coreloks, no problem, just clean it after every hunting season with a complete teardown, making sure to try to remove all fowling from the bore, probally don't shoot it more that 10-12 rounds a year, have never had a problem with it, always take it to the range at the first of the season, shoots 1" high at 50 yards with a 3X 9 leopold sitting on top of it, which has never had a screwdriver on it and have never had to take an adjustment cap off......
