Been checking around for a 45-70 lever purchase before Fall. Kind'a like the matte blued Chiappa T/D Short Rifle over the Marlin. Being a Take Down. That feature would undoubtedly be a handy dandy one for barrel cleaning and lead removal since my priority is too shoot cast only or perhaps paper patch for.

1._I'm finding it troublesome to find its Twist Rate_and_Type of Twist_Chiappa machines into their little 45-70s barrel?

2._Taylor's product Reputation? __(reliable or troubled)

Any & All comments welcomed. thank you.

showing 6 groove with 1:18 twist doesn't show profile of rifling but does say is manufactured by button rifling

Same for their Fancy

Interesting read & chart Artful. Button -6 groove. Should shoot cast pretty well down range even if it is a short barreled rifle. Appreciate your comment.

The Marlin is super easy to clean from the breach. Just need to remove one screw, so I wouldn't let cleaning ease dictate your decision too much.

Lots of nice things I like about this short barreled chiappa rifle historicfirearms.
Being a 2/pc T/D is its biggest feature for me.(have always wanted one) No button: safety. Skinner sights. And its muzzle brake is removable at whim. (muzzle brakes and me in a enclosed deer stand together do not get along) I'd actually prefer to buy from Marlin but so many site members across the Net have stated Marlins quality is no longer as good as its once was. If true. That is a shame. And time is getting short for a purchase.
