I figured I would head off to my local reloading store and see what I could find
Being desperate times I thought that the shelves would be near bare but to my surprise I found all the ingredients I needed
bought large pistol primers,8#2400 which has been very scarce, and a couple of other powders that I needed
the clammer of the impending election has the hoarders in retreat or their shelves be full [smilie=1:
good luck in your search

shelves around here suddenly re-filled about 8-9 months back.
I went in one day for some fishin stuff and nuthin, I swung by the next to see if they had some brass I needed and everything was crammed full.
they still ain't got nuthin I really need but they got plenty of other stuff I don't.

Dang....2400. The local shops haven't had any since I bought the last pound a few years back.

A local store near here just recently added a small display of ammo and reloading stuff. For reasons I cannot understand they priced primers at $10 LESS per thousand than the other local stores, and most of their 8# jugs are anywhere from $19-$22 per pound (also lots lower than other local stores). Not wanting them to get wise I have not asked why-- but I have stocked up in a big way. They particularly have a lot of pistol powder (Unique, Bullseye, Red dot, etc)

That is good to hear!! It's cheaper for me to order online and let the brown truck bring it to my door. One of the sad outcomes of the last couple years is I now only stock a couple powders to load everything. No more boutique powders for me.

I wish I lived near Winnemucca, NV....good prices and a good selection , sounds sweet.
Going to hit the shops this weekend and hope to find anything....I'm not picky !

Just ordered some 2400, from Cabelas.
Labor Day sale - free shipping with $99+ order, and an additional 10% with the promo code on the top of the webpage. $20 hazmat fee.

2 lbs of 2400 was $230 delivered.

Okay, there was a few other goodies in the order too..

FYI, they have Winchester LP primers for under $27/K. Less 10%. S&B LR for under $25, less 10%.

Local Cabelas didn't have much in the way of primers last week. Powder was there but pricey. Local Gander doesn't carry reloading equipment but did have all the 22 you wanted just at a price I wasn't going to pay.

I did get 2 boxes of 22lr. 550 was $25 at one Walmart. A box of 1,000 was $50 at a different one.

Hi...

Just stopped at a LGS here in southcentral Pa.

They had a decent selection of powders, including 2400 @$26.99/lb. I also saw Unique, Blue Dot, Red Dot and Bullseye on the shelf. No larger canisters available.
I have been searching for an 8lb jug of 2400 to put into my emergency reserve.

I came home and checked my inventory...still have six unopened 1lb bottles of 2400 on hand. Two more pounds of 2400 will fill more desire to put 8lbs in emergency reserve.

Edit: Need to be prepared overcame my natural inclination to be frugal(read:cheap), so I wentback to the LGS and bought those two pounds of 2400. Now have an 8lb cushion. I will continue to look for an 8lb jug to put into emergency reserve.

Primers arrived today...two packages...well packed...not damage...and the UPS guy winked at me too ;-)

I thought I'd bump this thread, because of the other cabelas thread.
I'm not sure if the Cabela's 55 miles away still has the limit of 3k of primers, and of course, they never have the variety I want, especially if it's on sale...Ya gotta find a clerk, they radio the people in the back room, 20 minutes later, they confirm, ya those small rifle primers you want are out of stock in the backroom also.

So I spent $20 hazmat for my order of over 10K of primers, I saved Gas on a 110mile round trip, saved time, and a lot of headache,,,and I suspect I would have never came home with the amount of primers I would have wanted to buy.

The UPS guy winked at you ? Were you wearing your ' dancing shorts ' ?

I've been ordering primers and powders online for a while now. Usually from Powder Valley, because they are cheaper than some, and very close. Normally just a couple days I have it on the porch.
No driving, no time involved, no hassle.
This was my first order from Cabelas - it came from two places, two different packages. They lost their shirt on shipping...

And the UPS guy asks me if I'm blowing more things up. I just grin, tell him ' so many things to blow up, so little time...'

LOL, I know him well, He is a gun guy also, he winked at me because he knew precisely what was in the boxes. If I didn't know him and didn't know he was a gun guy, then I guess I could say, 'he is a good lookin man and I suppose if I were a GLBTQXYZ, I'd be flattered.'
