First hunting trip this season. Squirrel season came in today, so I grabbed my Seneca and headed out for a few hours after work. Got 3 tree rats before it got dark so it was a good trip. I love that little rifle so much. It shoots like a laser. 3 shots and 3 squirrels. 25gr of Olde Eynsford, .015" patch lubed with mink oil, and a 65gr round ball will give them a splitting headache if you do your part. Hunting with, and shooting this little gun makes me giddy like a little boy. Lol

Sounds like you had a great time and the rifle did its job! I have owned .32, .36 and .40 calibers over the years and still have and like my .36 (H & A under hammer) It is just a fun size to shoot and does the job so well on a variety of varmints. Glad your hunt went so well . .. hard to believe that fall is fast approaching but the last couple of days, it has felt like her in the morning! Enjoy!

Nice !

I, too, loved my .36 H&A underhammer rifle, but gave it up once I stumbled across my long-sought true love, a pristine .36 Seneca ! 8-)

It's proven to be more accurate than the underhammer. [smilie=1:

It goes really well with my .45 Seneca deergun - both are the early versions, before T/C started stamping the model names into the barrels (both have the Seneca ID clinching 13/16" barrels that differentiate them from the Hawken model)

Sorry about no pictures..........lol. I already had the squirrels cleaned and soaking in salt water in the fridge by the time I thought about sharing on here. I'll be a better forum member from now on.

Just found/bought one can't wait to shoot it. I think I have a TC maxi ball mold for it. Bought it years ago. But I have slept since then. Will have to look.

Going out again in the morning. It's supposed to be a clear cool morning. I'm going down to the river bottom and look for a couple Fox Squirrels. There's a stand of Hickories by the river I know of that always seems to produce. There's not much better in this world than a cool morning and a sweet little squirrel rifle.

You're right about that! I don't squirrel hunt nearly as much as I use to but that may soon change. My .36 is a flinter; an iron mounted SMR that's supremely accurate. Years ago I hunted them with a .32 Traditions Crockett; that was a 5 shot 1" shooter at 50 yards.

Squirrels are, next to bear, my favorite game. Hanshi and I must be brothers from different mothers. He just described my squirrel rifle...it is the top rifle in this picture. Rarely I'll chase them with a 20 bore fowler which is the 4th from the top gun.

jjarrel's Seneca in 36 is the best rifle TC ever made as far as I'm concerned. Only difference between his and mine is I used 20 grs. rather than 25. Doubt the squirrels can tell the difference. I had one back I guess in the early 70's and have regretted parting with it ever since.

Thank you, gentlemen. I didn't mean to appear to hijack jj's thread and I apologize.
