A friend dropped by last night and gave me these 45-70 bullets. Nice of him, don't you think.

It's nice to have generous friends. Seems as though you've got at least one.

Great friend, but I hope that he's a long term acquaintance. I'm sure that you'll need his friendship in the future.

By the way, back in the early 90s, I bought a large box of Meister 405 grain 45/70 boolits at a gun show. They shot very well and the 500 count pack of boolits did't last very long.

My friend bought these bullets to use in one of his Trapdoors but he is so busy he never had time to load any. I guess I will borrow one his TDs and do it for him. I borrowed one of them and shot black powder rounds in it and it was a big hit at the range. I let several people shoot it and they got excited over shooting an Army rifle that was made in the 1880s.

I ended up using those Meister 405s 45/70 boolits in a reproduction Trapdoor (H&R Officer's Model) and a Marlin 1895 with super results. I didn't try them in my original Trapdoors due to their high BHN, hard wax lube and what I recall as .459" diameter. Glad that they worked out for you in the old war horse.

I need a friend like that. Usually I'm the one giving but that pleases me too.
