More info please. Will its intended use be for closing a wound or stapling cardboard?

What are you trying to join ?

They make singe use skin staplers for livestock that are like surgical staplers for about $15 with 35 staples preloaded. Might be sold at your local vet supply.

I use a Dewalt stapler on cardboard for posting my targets. Or is there a different use I'm not getting here?

I've been making cardboard boxes to hang Gunshow fliers up at the range.
I use a hot glue gun to hold it together.
If I could somehow find a tool that I can staple the side flaps, it would save a lots of time.
Probably be more secure.
The surgical stapler is kind of like a claw. Don't need to have the anvil to form the staple.
I looked for a deep throat stapler, but the anvil is to wide to fit inside the box.

Change your design... make the seam run up the back center with the bottom flap attached to the front so a deep throated stapler can staple it and the back seam over lap.

Sometimes old school methods are better.

Have since put Hogue Grip Sleeve on pistol so that this problem should not occur again...

I don't seem to find the type I keep in my first aid packs, but they are similar to this. I generally have always sewn myself up, but at times, things are just in an awkward place to do it without help, which I usually am. With the surgical staplers, you can usually manipulate things pretty much in line before nailing yourself back together.

Never used a surgical stapler but I have had one used on me. 94 staples up the middle of my stomach!

I don't think a surgical type stapler will work for your intended purpose. The surgical staple barbs go in straight and curl back towards each other just like a little paper stapler. The staplers we use keep the staple straight. I can't conceive how a regular staple will have enough strength or horsepower behind it to curl back under. If you COULD get one to curl back in wood or solid material like a regular stapler could- well- that would be the bomb!

I'm not really sure how a surgical staple works.
I thought it was like one of those big staples that are used on cardboard shipping boxes.
Those go through the cardboard and curl in towards the center.
I thought the surgical staple was the same only smaller.

That's exactly it.
Too bad it's so expensive.
At least I now know what it's called.
Thank you

This is what I made on the cheap.
Found a stapler for free.
Has some square stock from a EZcorners, I think.
Had a hinge in my parts bin.
Little cutting and welding.
I think it will work.

Had a chance to try my invention.
Worked good.
Little more grinding, a few welds, and it's just what i was looking for.

Love it when a plan comes together.
Also love it when I can save some time and money.
