Will cartridges loaded with the RCBS cast bullet mould .38-150-SWC 429 fit into the cylinder of a 357 cal New Vaquero with the case mouth crimped into the crimp ring? Or does this SWC cast bullet need to be crimped over the edge of the front driving band in order to fit into the New Vaquero cylinder?

I ask the same questions for RCBS bullet mould .45-255-SWC 424 fitting into a 45 cal New Vaquero.

I also would like opinions from users of RCBS bullet mould .45-225 CAV 55 for fit and function in the 45 cal New Vaquero. This mould make a nice looking lighter weight truncated cone bullet. I was wondering how much lower it would print on the 25 yard target than the traditional 255 grain bullet.

Never having held a New Vaquero, I can't answer you question with anything more than I think the 358429 will fit, I haven't read of anybody having any problems with it.

On the differing points of impact, that is going to depend on the loads you use, and you might not be able to tell. I base this answer on my large frame Bisley Vaquero that I fitted a .45ACP cylinder to. Using light cowboy level loads consisting of a 250 grain RNFP and a small charge of Clays (I don't have the load notes in front of me right now), it had the same POI with Winchester white box .45ACP 230 grain ball (which chronoed 750 fps from a 5" 1911).

given things like what powder, amount of powder, tightness of crimp I see the only accurate way it to try it yourself

I know the New Vaqueros aren't as strong as the original model but they still are .45/.357 revolvers and if the round is short enough to fit in the cylinder they should fire. Just stay away from Ruger-Only Loads published in some reloading manuals--they are for the old/original models only

I have tried the 45-225-CAV. The OAL will be fine in your NMV. We normally use the 200 gr SWC in 45 Colt pistols so I can't comment on the POI.

The 45-225-CAV shines in CAS as a rifle boolit. It runs like butter through our Rossi 92s.

I load the RCBS 38 150 in a New Vaquero and have no issues crimping in the crimp grove.

The RCBS design is lighter and shorter than the Lyman #358429 and can be loaded and crimped normally in my Ruger BH, which probably shares the same cylinder length as the Vaquero.
