This is about as off topic as you can get, but... Christmas is coming and I need a source for candy. There's always See's in Vegas but out here all we got is Walmart. I'd like to get a few boxes of chocolates that are a little better than WalMart carries. Mail order it'll have to be... Appreciate hearing your recommendations. Several years ago at a gun show I found a guy who was selling chocolates with various liquors in them; that would be nice.

Scrounger,
Years ago, I had an uncle that ran a country store. His forte in the Christmas season was bulk candy sales. He'd buy the stuff by the case and then bag it up and folks came from miles around to get it. Those old country stores are all but dead nowadays.....but bygod and all that is good, it was great while it lasted. I expect he had 25 varieties and all of it was top quality and it wasn't cheap...even then.
I don't know what to suggest. I hate buying those Russell Stover's boxes and half of the candy being filled with some sick orange goo or carmel..YUCK! I like chocolates filled with nuts...either whole or crushed, very tasty. But, I am not a bgi chocolate eater. I like the old fashioned mixed hard candy as well as any, and do you remember when hard candy was made in large ribbons? There was also a sugar candy that was molded in the shape of flowers...about the diameter of a 50 cent piece, the top would be colored and the bottom left white.....that was good too.

Do a search for Gharadelli's (sp), and Seese's. Absolutely the best for chocolates.

I'm familiar with them. Jeez, I remember when See's cost less than $5 a pound. Up to $13.60 now! Nevertheless, that's probably what I'm going to end up getting. At least I can get it on one of my trips to Vegas and save shipping. Maybe someone here can come up with a connection to get some chocolates with liquors....

Scrounger you have met that special someone and are trying to woo her with chocolates. Well in the words of Odgen Nash "Candy is Dandy, but liquor is quicker." Won't need either and can save some money if you learn how to lick your eye browse.

Easy for you to say, all you have to do is put down that salt block you carry around, or drop a handful of oats...
