View Full Version : Does sizing matter when PC'ing

If you have multiple guns in the same caliber, and one mics out to .356 and the other 3.58 in 9mm, how much does it really matter if you PC your bullets. Im asking because im at this exact situation. I PC these as one is shot in an HK the other a Glock and with their rifling, this is the best way to eliminate leading issues.

so what's the consensus here? go .357 and call it a day?

Size matters. PC is good, but will not fix a bad fit. Color code the boolits to the proper size for each. This is another advantage of PCing.

have you tried shooting your PC bullets in each firearm? Truth is always in the taste of the pudding

If you are having problems then color code is easy enough with PC

Nuttin' like trying for yourself. I think I'd make up a few in .358" and try them in both guns (I've done just that with a Tokerev, .358" and an FMK .356". Shot OK in both. PCed and sized to .358").

I went straight to 358 long ago.
didn't even bother checking the last 3 9's I bought, they got what I have and they seem to like it.

thats what im thinking now. right now i only one 1 9m but shoot my reloads out of my buddies glock. im sure as time goes on, ill be getting ore 9's which will have different barrel sizes. so what would be the recommended bullet sizer for running different guns?

I have four 9mm's and size all boolits, coated or traditionally lubed, .357.

your gonna hear 357 and 358 an awful lot.
some of the older guns I have measured come in at 358.
and some of the newer ones were tight like 355 or even a tick less.
I gave up and went to the default 358 diameter.
besides I might use the boolit in my 357 lever gun if I ever get enough of them cast up to have a small surplus.

+1 on 9mm, PC'd and sized to .358. Shoot 'em in 3 pistols and a carbine. Works good in .38 sp. haven't tried .357 yet.

This. Some folks don't seem to realize the cast bullet sizing requirement is at least .001" oversize, not exactly .001". The upper limit on bullet size is determined by what fits the chamber without a tight fit.

I size all my 35 cal bullets with the same .360" sizer now, rifles and pistols. It works great. (I also powder coat everything)
