Perseid meteor shower will occur tonight through Friday morning. Best viewing will be after midnight tonight. They are predicting a massive 200 meteor per hour /sarc. Which turns out to be one meteor ever 3 minutes or so. So if you happen to be an early bird with good viewing weather, why not step outside after midnight and see if you can see any meteors. You never know what you might see.

Our skies were overcast and that cause me to miss the event.

Cloudy skies last night for us as well, heard a storm rolling in after dinner That would explain the dogs barking early in the morning though.

3 meteors/min, not 3 minutes/meteor. :)

I got up early @ 3:45 this morning for them and watched until 5 AM.
Not sure how many total I saw, am certain it was well over a hundred.
Twice, I saw 6 meteors in a 60-second period. :)

For those who are still interested, early Saturday morning is forecast to be nearly as good.
The moon is setting around 1:AM Pacific Time, so early mornings should be better than late evenings for that reason as well.

Best of luck,

I fell asleep at the 'puter and awoke at about 12:30 am and saw one ....... none reflected off my pillow after that however. We are having clear skies but I farm and ranch ...... sleep is too precious!

Best regards
