Hello All,
I picked up one of these moulds and wondered if anyone had loaded it before. Thanks in advance! Boats

Is that new? Or one of Walt's? I would guess the latter.

That is a J.D. Jones designed standard weight hunting bullet for the 41 Magnum or the 411-JDJ Wildcat cartridge. J.D. Jones is the creator and owner of SSK Industries. J.D. contracted with N.E.I. to make these bullet molds which were only available through SSK.

Here is the SSK (N.E.I.) 295 gr version. Notice the 5 bands instead of 4.

I was told the mold was made in the 80's. The box is original to the mold.

I think you're gonna like that boolit. Back in the mid-80's, Walt made up a very similar truncated-cone w/GC for me. Until I noticed the 'SSK' on the mold block, I thought for a second or two that it might be my old mold (which I threw into the deal when I sold my DW .41 Mag 10-12 years ago) but yours is plain-base and marked for a nominal 225 gr. where mine was GC and marked for 235 gr.

If this is your first aluminum mold, be sure to put a leeeetle bit of bullet lube on that sprue plate hinge. A light touch on the alignment pins (the male tabs) will be helpful as well.

The mold could have been made between '85 and '95

and the top of the mold it will stop that galling.
turn the heat down some too.
you'll know your in the zone with a walt mold when you open it and the boolits just fall out with a little shake.
everything will be square and filled out.

I have the SSK molds for my 44mag in 270 and 300 grs. They are great.
I think I got them in the early 1980's during my first casting experiences.
NOE makes a copy of them. Very nice bullet to make. I like the 270 with some 296.
