Wasn't sure where to post this.....so I chose here.

I have been dispatched to Nevada to help out fighting the Strawberry Fire, just outside of Baker. I'll be there, in all likelihood, 16 days. So...if you try to contact me Re: brass sales, it may take a few days for me to get back to you. I'll be coordinating with the home front as much as possible to keep in touch, keep PMs answered, and keep shipping going...but if there's a glitch or two, please be kind and understanding.

Tent and bag packed....let's go do it.

Stay safe trails4u, SWMBO has been out 33.5 days so far this year. She is currently on the Clark/Rock Creek Incident on the Inyo National Forest. This is her last year and looks to be a doozie :o(

Thanks for the support gentlemen... I guess I'll be more brains than brawn this go round...not a normal state of affairs for me, I assure you. :) It's something I've been working toward for a long time....and will get to go as a GISS (Geographic Information Specialist) on this gig. I'll be away from the front....and charged with providing maps for those 'in it'. I trust I'm capable...I've been well trained. And I pray for my training to be enough, and for my resolve to be strong, as my work on this one will matter to many.

Looking forward to a great assignment!

I do love that country. There is some fine trout fishing not to mention elk hunting in that area. Check out the Cleve Creek area just west of where you will be if there is time. BE SAFE!!!! There is a BLM Fire watch cam at 10,000 feet that is overlooking that fire and as of this morning the fire looks much less active. http://alerttahoe.seismo.unr.edu:8080/

Watching that fire today on the BLM webcam, it is starting to take off again. Prayers to the guys on the line as well as the people in the community of Osceola if not evacuated!

Looks like the fire may be controlled after today. Even the webcam is looking another direction. Nice.

Made it home yesterday evening after 10 days on the assignment. We got the fire 100% contained, and transitioned the continued management to a smaller, local team to finish it up. It thankfully didn't go too big....which surprises me, as the conditions were ripe for it to take off. Excellent work by the crews on the ground!!

We lost a firefighter on this one.....a first for me, and a humbling, frightening, soul-searching experience to have. I guess we all 'know' that it's dangerous work...we all 'know' the risks, and we all 'know' that each and every year there are those that don't make it home. I guess 'knowing' these things doesn't really prepare you to deal with it, when I it happens in your yard.

May he rest in peace.
