I just cast my first bullets today. Is there a certain amount of time I have to wait before I can size and lube them. I will be sizing them in a Lyman 4500.

I size the next day.
Just my way. I have not had issues with that. Once in a while I lube next day, then size day after. Sometimes I size next week.
I am not sure the bullets are that picky.

How did they turn out Rusty? As far as waiting, Ive done them the same day to probably over a year later. I think tha longer you wait the bullets will age harden more to a point. Makes them size a little harder which can be a bad thing if there a little big.

I dont know if makes much if any difference in the final product.

I just wanted to make sure I didn't size them too early and screw them up. They came out good Adam. The beginning was quite a learning experience. I had been reading a lot of threads here and that helped me make some adjustments, then they started to come out pretty good.
In the beginning.

Here is my other thread with more pictures. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=31295
Thanks for all your help Adam.

Its satisfying, huh?
Casting is my recreation. Especially with fuel prices. The range is a drive for us.
Casting is in the back room.

It really is. I had a lot of fun casting today and learning. I even enjoyed the smelting process the other day.

If they are water dropped, I size them as soon as they are dry. Air cooled can wait. DALE

I size water dropped ones right away, too. They harden fast. If I've cast up 300 or so at a time, they're getting hard to size before I can get done.
