Need some help.
Loading for my M1 Carbine.
I have a 6 cav mold, plain base.
It shoots much better with a gas check installed. i bought the plain base checks.
Should I look for a gas check mold, probably 2 cav, or get a plain base check maker?????
Unless I can get the 2 cav mold cheap, the cost will be about the same.
6 cav is great. Lots of boolets in little time.
6 cav gas check mold is little more than I want to spend on this project.

a lot of worthless boolits don't sound too cheap to me.
I'd get a gas check mold, and some gas checks.

Plus One - I'll bet Lee has a good 6-cavity 120-gr RNGC mold for about $45. Their 2-cavity RNGC mold was what I shot a LOT of through my carbine. Sell the PB mold to recoup some bux...

I didn't know Lee made a 30cal 120gr GC mold.
I'll have to check it out.
Thanks

I have tried MANY molds for M1 carbine, plain base and gas checked.
My absolute favorite is the NOE 311 115 GC sized .309 and cast of linotype.
I am sure softer alloys would work as well but I have lots of lino...dale

Back a large number of days ago, my friend and I shot cast bullets in our M1 Carbines and just about anything that moved.

Great Fun, until the guns quit functioning. Seems the lead filled the gas chamber and this piston would not move. A real PITA to clean out.

Decides on a Lee 90364. 309/120gr round nose, gas checked.
I'm shooting a 120gr round nose now so hopefully it will be the same.
