Stopped by our local Salvage Yard and hit it big(to me atleast).

Pure Lead & Wheel Weights --- .15/pound

Has more pure lead than I can use and had 156 pounds of wheel weights!

Ka-Blam!:Fire: And yes, I snagged all the W/W and some lead for the .58!!

Now, wish me luck! Me and my small Lee melting pot will be busy!!!

Ya done good! You might be able to trade the pure lead for WW's to others here that shoot Black Powder.

Thanks Guys, Sometimes it is just under your nose. I've known about this place for several years, just never put 2-n-2 together. Today, I picked up the rest of the w/w and he told me they found a 5 gal bucket full of pure lead and were saving it for me.

I did lie to you, it was .20 /pound!!!

I also shoot Black Powder, .50 cal and .58 cal ball/minnies, so i can use it all.....ha..ha.evil laugh........

buy yourself a cheap cast iron pot and melt them down. that small Lee pot will drive you nuts trying to keep it filled up!

I like to break down WW's with a larger pot as well.

Faster and the bigger melts will average out alloy percentage changes ....... (make your finnished product more uniform)

I have always used a cheap cast iron (cheap is relative) fry pot from wal mart and it has worked wonders for breaking down WWs on my grill. I had it seemed tried everything else before I decided to go to the camping area of Wal Mart... and there was the perfect lead melter.

I haven't had much luck with the scrap dealers as they all seem to buy but won't sell to the small guy. I'm saving all my jacketed scrap as well as picking up .22 brass so will see if they'll at least do some swapping when the time comes.

plus all the dirt and junk will gum up that pot in no time.
a dutch oven on a grill will allow you to melt 50 plus pounds at a time make ingots which will store in a bucket or under a bench.
there are all kinds of stuff you can make ingots outta.
