The threads im seeing including one i started are all old ones. I recently read a post by an Alliant Rep who said that 300MP was a little slower than H110 and not the same powder to dispel an intetnet myth that they were the same since they were both made in St Marks.

His data in 357mag showed pretty close velocity match betwern the two but way lower pressure for 300MP

Anyone have some more testing data that is recent especially in 45LC for use in a Blackhawk?

Kind of a non starter for most handguns. H110 takes barrel length to be effective. Some small caliber centerfire guys love it. Bee maybe?

I did a lot of testing in 44Mag 4 and 6 inch. Lots of phone conversations with Ben at Alliant who was very nice, did testing of his own, but had no say in what goes on. I think someone in Sales said lets make a more H110, H110. It's a great powder for those who can use it, the price is usually low.

In 44Mag 4&6" the powder burned poorly until you got to maxload. I will just say I was unable to create any pressure signs with a 250g Keith.

Don't set any grass fires.

Alliant did their testing in an 8.25" test barrel (no cylinder gap) and performance falls rapidly with lower pressure. My memory coming back, think I've a couple pounds yet.

I bought some to try in the 300 blackout because the burn rate seems perfect. I have yet to do so.

The Alliant data for Hornet is amazing in regards FPS.

That was it. I was complaining about being suckered in by the "Magnum Pistol Powder" and the Hornet guy was saying "Shhhh, Don't rock the boat, this stuff is awesome".

I'm hoping the 3# I have will be worth enough some day I can give it away.

I also have my eye out for a 10" S&W XVR 460. Is buying a gun to fit the powder a reasonable excuse?

Bought some 300-MP for tests in my RUGER 77/44 with a 275gr Wide Flat Nose cast.

It was a non-starter.

Lil'gun on the other hand is showing real promise.

So the tests will come down to the H110 and the Lil'gun as to which gets the nod. Lil'gun looking the best at this point.

Mean while, I have an almost full container of 300-MP that needs a home.

Are you kidding Mal? If getting set of dies is a reason to buy the gun to match then so is powder

Thank you! I feel enabled!

I was hoping to see a couple pet loads though.

I have had good luck with it
But I am loading for a 14" TC Contender and using the Lee 310 CG mold
But I agree it isn't for reduced loads
My best groups were right at listed Max

Not one of the low recoil loads , but the load worked well on deer

I ran some 166gr Lbt FN, gas checked with aluminum checks, .35" nose, lbt lube. I ran 18.2gr up to 18.9gr and I still wasn't getting a seal on the chamber with the brass. The higher end loads were beginning to crater primers, but no sticky extraction in anything. I ran them in a 10" 357 Max Blackhawk, 6" GP100 and a 7.5" FA Model 83, all had black soot all the way down to the rim. The FA got it the worst. I'm going to run it up more to see if I can get enough pressure to seal in the FA, but I'm sure it'll be over max in the GP100.

Also loaded up 13gr under a LBT 200gr FN, Cu gas check, lbt lube, .35 nose. They shot with authority but still didn't have enough pressure to seal the chambers.
