Hello,

I'm looking for drawings (blueprints) for castboolits. What i need are dimensions to make my own molds. For now i'm looking mainly for .45 acp and 9mm.
I think it would be nice if we have this info in this forum.

As soon as i make my moulds i will upload pictures (will be .45 acp SWC)

For any help i 'll be very greatfull :-D

Hi MiHec.
Welcome to these boards. :drinks:

You may want to look at some Boolit design software to generate your own drawings.

............Hello MiHec, and welcome to the board. Are you wanting to know shrinkage factors for the various calibers? Obviously this will vary due to lead alloy and your block material.

It's tough and drives me nuts trying to figure out how big to cut a cherry. Hard when you just make a few molds and there is a lot of hand work involved.
Resources are just too limited unlike larger operations that use the same tool steels with known properties and block material too. They can experiment with all alloys and sizes to gather dimensions for each caliber as different sizes shrink different.
It would be nice if we could get a book with mold dimensions, Just look up what you need to do with the materials you have.
Be nice to have CNC, just tweak the puter.

I have a question for the guru's too. Say you want to mill a sheet or block of aluminum without fooling with moving clamps around. How do you hold it to the table so the whole surface can be milled?

Hello!

What i really need is measures of finished boolits. Later i will add shrinkage and oversize dimension for calibration.

Why don't i yust measure existing boolits?

I live in evrope and over here is very poor choice of boolit types :(

For now i have two types of .45 acp boolits. First is 200gr SWC
and second 230gr RNB

Now i have another question for you.....

Can anyone tell me the measures of slots (or whole block) for handles. I ordered LEE 6 cavity and LEE 2 Cavity handles. The problem is that i must wait 20-25 days to get it.

Thanks Buckshot. I printed your response. I buy a lot from Enco now.
I have my new Granite set up in the basement now and have to sell the 1220 before I can buy more goody's.

Have you checked out our Group by section? It has allot of bullet dimensions there.

Is there a nice person who can give me this measures of slots for LEE 6cavity handles and for 2 cavity Lee handles

Thanx

I can measure a Lee two cavity for you. They look to be .165" wide and .255" deep.
I use Rapine handles for my molds because it is easy to switch them from block to block. I paid $14 for them.

Can anyone measure 6 cavity??

Thanks

Can anyone measure 6 cavity??

Height = .313", Depth = .380" as per my LEE 6 cav. 358-160-RFN via a dial caliper.

Is there any software you can recomend?

Links maybe?

P.S. I'm working my designs with PTC ProE (i'm application engineer responsible for NC programming, postprocessors and toolmaking)

Tom Myers on this board has written a program. I have not used it, but I believe it is very good. I would talk to him.

Go here for a gallery of dimensioned drawings:

http://www.tmtpages.com/web_images/index.htm

Just click on one of the images to show the drawing.

Get a copy of the RCBS Cast Bullet Manual (no longer in print) and get the Lyman Cast Bullet Book.
The RCBS Cast Bullet Manual has shrinkage charts and I believe the Lyman book does too for various alloys. Mold cavities are made larger than the desired lead bullet size to compensate for shrinkage. The alloy used, casting temperature, and cavity volume will vary the shrinkage rate and the reason why most mold suppliers specify a specific alloy for use with their product.
