I did a quick search, I'm looking for either a piece of literature on the mold, preferably from h&g stating the specs and what alloy they commonly used for this type of mold. I'm assuming its #2 but I want to be certain before I mix anything as I only have enough to mix about #10 give or take. Thanks

On my way out the door shortly, but you might find the information at this location.

My BB 130 runs about .453 in WW+1% tin. Many of the .45 molds were spec'd for linotype, but they were custom ordered, and could be had spec'd for whatever mix the customer wanted.

I realize you are looking for published specs, but with H&G closing in 1999, that info may be tough to find, I can't help with that.

If you want my opinion, as I have a GB clone of the H&G 130. For 45 acp in semi-auto, I have used COWW sized to .452 using any good soft lube, with much success. I suspect you could use a alloy that is a bit softer as well

Right now I'm using coww with about 1% tin and lube of paraffin Vaseline and beeswax all equal parts. I may make the lube a bit harder as storing I've lost spots of lube and pan lubing I have to melt twice to get the band filled. Bullets are dropping a good size and I size to .452 and weigh 197gn +/- 1gn which I'm happy with. I just wanted to try something different.

I would focus on a different lube rather than a different alloy, but that's me.

Actually, the lube Strtspdlx is using is the old old NRA lube, and should be an excellent lube for 45acp. If he wants it a bit stiffer, I'd recommend a slight modification of adding a bit of Ivory soap as Mike (357Maximum) did. (see post #5)

I wasn't trying to imply the lube was insufficient, but he complained about needing a second melting cycle, and if he's using COWW+1% tin, his alloy should be fine.

The .45 is a very forgiving caliber - it will take about anything, in terms of alloy. WW+1-2%Sn is fine. If that throws small (.451) you might have to go to a harder alloy (less shrinkage)...

An alloy with Bhn. 9 - 11 will do you just fine.
