Good day everyone:
I am loading some 358156gc in my s&w 586 6", I'm using h110 with a load of 15.2 gr.
I just purchased some starline 357 brass to reload. With a load of 15.2 gr I am having a compressed load when using the upper crimp groove. If I up the load to 15.5gr should I use the lower crimp groove which would give me more airspace above the powder?

Any I put is greatly appreciated

Make a dummy with the use of second crimp groove and see if you cylinder will support it - I use the second crimp groove mainly for 38 spcl brass

The Lyman Manual shows that bullet loaded to 1.590 oal which indicates the first or top crimp groove and a max of 15.7 grs of H110.

Thank you everyone for your replies.I think I have it figured out, loaded rounds look like a snake that swallowed a big mouse. I'm sure that once this new brass is fired it will have more powder capacity.

If you sized it, and I expect you did, it sounds like your sizer is a little tight. It will happen again and it does overwork your brass. I had a similar problem with a .32 mag sizer die once. It was really tight. I sent it back to RCBS and the sent me a die back that worked perfectly.
