I would like to know if anyone has tried to build up the driving bands on the 429360 bullet with powder coating to get the bullet to work? I just hate to give up on this one and apologize for what I know is a long shot as best inquiry.

Try to lap it out.

so will a quick lap of the mold.

I believe Beagle tried hogging out the front driving band on a 429360 many years ago. As I recall, it didn't work to improve performance with this boolit design. You might send him a PM and inquire about his results.

I had my machinist friend open the front driving band (as well as the other bands) to .432". I then hollow pointed it. Darn thing still wouldn't give passable accuracy in any of my three .44s. It did shoot marginally at full magnum velocities after all of these mods. As I recall, I gave that turkey to Ben and he had no luck either. Got a feeling it's doing duty as a fishing sinker down in Alabama.

If you can get decent accuracy out of it in the 1100-1200 FPS, you're a better man that I, gunga din./beagle
