The one with the scope is "Big Ollie" and I made the walnut stock over a 6 week time frame. The other I bought from Gun Broker and was labeled as an "Ethan Allen" and was from an estate sale I was told. Great workmanship on the Ethan Allen with the fit and finish and Big Ollie so far puts 4 balls into one hole at 100 yards.170521170522170523170524

I plan to shoot some full length pictures but on my bench there is not enough room so I plan to get some at the range this coming week.

oldracer, The "Ethan Allen" rifle is a good one, especially if made by Mowrey in Olney, TX. (Check the bbl. & receiver for that info.) Mine was made in Waldron, IN and the workmanship isn't as good as the Olney-made rifles. Btw, unless Mowrey's recommendations & dimensions have changed, the .50cal. actually uses a .495" RB. Lastly, Deer Creek Products in Waldron, IN may still carry some parts for the Mowreys.

Thanks for the info on the Ethan Allan. I had seen the info on the Mowreys and I did look at the gun but there is only a number on the bottom of the receiver hidden by the trigger guard. I did not pull the fore end to see if there is anything under the barrel although I may do that later. I did open the side plate of the receiver so see how the hammer and trigger were mounted and add a little grease to smooth things out. It seems there is no way to adjust trigger pull without replacing or modifying the spring that holds the trigger against the notches.
