newby to reloading and was having a hard time finding ammo for 1899 savage hi power22. i came across a load of .230 bullets in the correct dimensions i have been looking for. the ammo i have has bullets from .220 to .226 old stock, reloads, norma, s and b so obviously size is not an issue or is it? save me from myself

fixed it some for ya.

No.

Go try to put a .308 bullet (standard USA .30 caliber) down a .22 caliber barrel. They won't fit, they won't go in the brass and if they did they would not go in the chamber.

Start by reading the sticky on slugging a barrel or chamber cast. Then go do that. Measure carefully, twice.
Buy bullets or molds 1 to 2 thousands over. 0. tenths, hundredths, thousands.

Once you know what your barrels groove diameter is you can size bullets or molds 1 to 2 thousandths bigger and it should work.

It would be like trying to shoot a .43 caliber aka .44 mag in a .357. It is nay going to fit laddy.

Hello
and
WELCOME on your first postings here :)

Cast, yes, start at the low end of pressure and work up
Loads are listed in Lyman Manual #45 Page 285

Is this cast or jacketed? If cast they will be fine if they will chamber.
If jacketed and if they chamber I would start low and work up cautiously.

.002 is not much of a squeeze.

yes.
.230 cast boolits would actually be a preferred diameter in your .228 barrel.
your fine.
