I have an old Lyman 450 that does a dam good job lubing my 38 spcl's with White label bac . I got the RCBS on sale at Midway for 143 with a 10 rebate . Gonna use it for my 44 Mag and some of Randy Rats lube . Seems like the little grey Lyman might have stressed a bit on bigger bullets .Now if I could just find a Saceo unit I would be set for rifles .Not that I need it but I like the idea of setting one up with a certain lube and keeping it there .

I sold all my 450's and went with a new LamII. My LamI was as old as my 450's and did not show the wear that the Lymans did. I've downsized a little but the RCBS units are better built; I know now after almost 40 years of using the machines.

I have two LAM1s and they have served me well. I don't like the plunger assembly on the LAMIIs. But the solid bottom is nice since you don't have to worry about leakage like you do w/ the LAM1s.

This takes care of the only thing I didn't like about the LAM II and yes I have posted this before. FWIW

Use a ¼” drive ½” 6 point socket with a slot cut in it to allow a bolt to go through
the top of the luber screw and you can eliminate that annoying double ended ball to
apply pressure. The ¼” drive socket wrench works much nicer. I cut the slot with
a metal angle grinder. And you’re not messing with the factory setup. Think I paid
$1.59 for the socket!

The Lyman and RCBS are good machines but if you want another style to set up for other boolits I'd recommend a STAR, the best luber/sizer.

I was under the impression that the Saeco was the best for rifles .

I have 2 star machine 2 saeco machines and a 450. Other than speed on plain based boolits the star wins hands down other than that there isn't a nickels worth of good over the others, in fact the others are Better suited for gas check boolits just my opinion for 45 years of casting

Plus one - my Star sits up there while I use my old Lachmillers (Samo LAM's) for GC & rifle boolits. The Star comes down for PB pistol Boolits.

Problem is that the Saeco uses another design of size die. I do all my BP and pistol on my Lyman loaded with a modified Emmerts and all my rifle on a LAM II bought used loaded now with Ben's Red hardned. Interchangable dies.
