Hey all. I got myself a new mold, and I casted a few up tonight (straight WW). I think this is going to be a really handy boolit out of my Remington 7600 30-06. Lubed and sized to 162.5 grains.

I'm working up a mild Red Dot load for tomorrow, but I am looking for a load with more oomph. Wondering if anybody has any suggestions for putting this bullet into the 1800 fps range, which will put me dead on from 25-100 yards for small game. If anyone has any experience with this bullet, any info would be greatly appreciated.

If nobody has any useful experience, I think I will try and work up a with unique starting at around 14.5 or so grains and working up. I just love getting new molds...

I'd go a tad slower with the powders, perhaps starting at 16 gns 2400 a la Ed Harris "The Load" or 17gns Viht N110. Accurate's 5744 starting at around 22 gns is a favourite as well.

Be sure and carefully work up these loads

Thanks for the suggestions dromia. I found and unpacked my Lyman cast manual so I have a bit more to work with as well. I don't think I have any 2400 on hand anymore, but I'll have to try and pick some up this weekend.

I did find a suitable load with Red Dot, 12.5 gr. Shot a couple of 1.75-2" groups at 50 yards. Should do nicely as a tin can load with little recoil.

................With that slug in the 30-'06, good places to start would be 10.0grs Unique, 20.0grs 5744 or SR4759, 20 -22grs 4227, and 20-25grs 4198. If the nose casts large enough to engrave it will be a fine shooting design.
