Does anyone know where to get .30-40 brass? I know I can fire form .303 Brit, but would like to use proper brass if I can get it. Maybe 200 cases or so.

A year or so ago I got mine from Graf's. I don't know who has any right now.

I have had extremely good luck right here on this forum. Start a thread in the want to buy section.

About 10 days back there was short thread on this topic in "Favorite Loads, Military Rifles". It appears that the only two manufactures of 30-40 brass, Winchester and Remington, have ceased production of both brass and loaded ammunition. Unless someone else (PPU, Starline, or ??) picks up the ball, us Krag fanciers may be doomed to forming our cases from .303.

Yes, and .303, while good enough for the uses to which most people put the Krag rifle today, is short and may be small in head diameter. It is usually specified as .455in. head diameter, easily close enough to the .30-40's .457in., but American manufacturers make it undersize. You should find information on this in threads on the .303. British and other military rounds are likely to be the right size, but Berdan primed. The Serbian Prvi Partisan cases should be up to specification, and what looks like NNY on the headstamp is actually ППУ in Cyrillic.

It is enough to weaken my desire for a Lee-Enfield in .375 x 2½in. Nitro-express.
