I use 2400 for most of my CB loads and even sprinkle it on my morning oatmeal. I don't have a .270 but my 7 X 57 likes 18.5 gr. 2400 and a 165 gr. boolit.

The info on the target says it all but YMMV

The 9 ring is 1" in dia. the shot to the left is a called flier, all @ 100 yds.

powderburnerr,

I use XMP-5744 and the Lyman 280642 (150 grainer). I included a couple of photos (maybe!) This is a ten-shot group at 100 yards. It is a bit over 1.4” and if you take the “bad” one out of the picture, it is around 1.25”. (I have many 3-shot groups that are under an inch easily) I am not sure of the velocity, but it is slow, much less than 2000 fps. I could look it up—I just did, it is 1667 fps from a Model 700. Interesting is the fact that the 287346 (135 grainer) when sized down to .278 from .287, it shoots as well, but I have not done substantial testing with it. It uses the same charge of XMP-5744 for a muzzle velocity of 1810 fps. All velocities are chronographed. Good-luck…BCB
