Been awhile since I posted here. Question for wiljen if he is still around. I had Reloaders Reference running on my old desktop running XP back around 2008 or so. Took forever to load and debug but that thing was awesome. Had a inventory of all my firearms, ammo, (emtpy and full loads) loading data for all my guns, target data and round counter etc.. That computer died in 2010 and I tried loading Reloaders reference onto my Laptop running Windows 7 and struggled to transfer all my data over for my Firearms, Round counts, Loads etc.. I lost some functions in the reload due I think to problems with Windows 7. That Laptop has also bit the dust finally and I am now on Windows 10.. When I went to the sourceforge page it looks like nothing new has been done since 2010? Is Reloaders reference dead? Can it run on Windows 10? Or should I just pic up an old laptop running XP and dedicate it to that? Please say it isn't dead!

Was not aware of any health issues with him.. Hope he is still with us.. Too bad he never maybe sold it to some one to finish it up.. With the age of Apps that would be a hell of a one...

If you follow the page to the bottom and click on cast pics they now own or allow to host Reloaders Reference.

Thanks that helped a little, I wasn't a super poster but I'm pretty sure I must have had 100 posts with all the dies that were getting considered. But I do remember stuff getting lost.. Well that doesn't look good for the time being. I guess the search is on for a new program. I doubt we will find one to equal Reloaders Reference but there was stuff in there that I was never going to use anyway. Anyone have any ideas? I'm looking at Firearms inventory, Ammo inventory both loaded and spent ammo, and a place to enter load tables for my pet loads that I've worked up. But I'm also thinking that rather than a dedicated standalone program then just something that is built in say Access would be better. That way it's really just a small file or data base that can be moved to the new computer and so long as your current in Microsoft on the new computer then you should still be in business.

WOOO HOOO!!!! A guy over on THR posted a link on fixing compatibility issues in access and voila! I'm back no loss of data! Data base is about 8 months out of date, something for me to update on my next rainy day.. But I'm back up and running on Windows 10 with Access 365.. Get the word out it can be made to run on new machines...

Guy's my copy of Reloader's reference started way back in 2007 and I had to add patches to expand the program and enable updates etc..

Requirements for the program are MS Access.. A full copy. Starting about Windows 8 and Office 2013 even if it came installed on your new pc or not you had to create a Microsoft account in the cloud and then it would update and would let you have a fully functional Access.. I think that was my root cause problem in migrating it forward to my newer laptops. I hadn't created the Microsoft account. Didn't want to..

So Try it out for yourselves and I will post some links that may or may not help you.. to start go here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/reloadersrfrnce/files/Reloaders_%20Reference/

And down load 9.3x74r - Final (https://sourceforge.net/projects/reloadersrfrnce/files/Reloaders_%20Reference/9.3x74r%20-%20Final/) and do the install.

If it will won't run you may have to do this to give yourself permissions to open it..
Quote from Wiljen
"I have recieved some messages from users having trouble running this package on Vista. Vista's default security settings will not allow users to change
files in the \program files path. This is what creates the problems.

1. be patient with the install, it is slow, but will complete even on vista.
2. follow the instructions below to change the permissions on the Reloaders Reference folder
to allow user writes to the files.

1.) Open c:\program files and right click the Reloaders Reference folder.
Note: on x64 systems this will be the Program Files (x86) folder.
2.) Choose properties from the drop down menu.
3.) On the properties tab, choose security.
4.) On the security tab, click the advanced button at the bottom of the tab.
5.) In the advanced tab, click users in the list, then edit.
6.) In the permissions dialog, click the Allow box on the top line (Full Control) then click ok.
7.) When it returns to the Advanced tab, check the replace all existing box at the bottom of the tab and click ok.
8.) Click ok again to return to the security screen.
9.) Click users in the top window and look at the permissions in the bottom portion, full control should now be checked.
10.) Click ok to close the security dialog.

RR should now run without the read-only or linking problems.

Or perhaps you may need to run it in Compatibility mode for XP if so follow this link and give this a try.

Once open and a file created to store your saved copy into, Go ahead and if necessary install the other manuals one by one. This step may not be needed here in the final version but it's what I had to do for the patches. This is all the firearms owners manuals and Targets compiled.

On mine there is a little tab in the upper left hand corner once the program is open called custom tabs.. Thats the Gold mine..

I hope this helps because that's about all I know about how to do the install.

Oh yea all user entered data is stored in the CoreData.mdb file so simply copying it to another location would in essence create a backup.
