I have a piece of Guyacan wood I brought back from Ecuador in 1980, thinking it would make nice handgun grips. I would like two pair of 1911 grips and there should be enough wood for several more.

Anybody want to cut me a deal to make these. You can keep the excess wood. No checkering just smooth wood.

Do you know Reine Smith of 4S Grips, goes by the internet name of Tulski? His operation is right there in Texas, and 4S will come up on a Google for his address. I did just what you're proposing to do, which was to send him a block of fancy walnut. He made the grips for the balance of the wood. Smooth is all you'll get, because he doesn't checker any more, and he will no longer work with some of the more toxic exotic woods. He has a website and usually has some of the more popular grips already made up and for sale on the site with photos. Here's some he made for a Star Model B from the wood I sent, and later in a separate transaction with different wood for a Llama Max-I.

Thank you. I sent him an email this morning with a couple of pics of the wood. Now I wait for a reply.
