Been mulling over perhaps getting another barrel for a Chiappas reproduction P53, and it got me to wondering about what was done during the "volunteer" movement when shooters in England were having privately owned P53's altered for greater accuracy at longer ranges, this being immediately before the government stepped in to maintain control and prevent the threat posed by free men being armed. Reading what I've gotten my hands on so far, it does appear the .45 caliber was becoming a popular conversion and that some other calibers were being tried. Does anyone know what other calibers?

I don't know, but I think they would have tried both .50 and .54 calibers on the way to .45.

Wasn't the Belted Ball (Baker?) a basic .54?

Or maybe they took Mr. Whitworth at his word and only used .45???

Yeah, and .43 and .44 and .52 and .53 and .55, but couldn't agree more, especially for sure .50.

Bob Hoyt has made Kerr barrels in the past, don't know how tough it would be to get another one from him now.
